East China’s Jiangsu province kicked off its modern agriculture conference Saturday in Nanjing to show its determination to embark on a new journey of countryside rejuvenation. The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Provincial Government of Jiangsu.
Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, addressed the opening ceremony which was presided over by Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu.
Lou extended his warm welcome to the guests for their participation in the conference.
He remarked that Jiangsu is a land of innovation, adding that innovation has always been the inexhaustible driving force of Jiangsu's development and the most important characteristic of Jiangsu’s culture.
In recent years, we have made strenuous efforts to implement the deployment of the CPC central committee and the central government concerning the measures for the promotion of agriculture-friendly policies and the improvement of the farmers’ well-being, which has laid a solid foundation for the strengthening of scientific and technological innovation in the modernization of the agricultural sector, the CP chief said.
Liu Qinjian noted that Jiangsu is exerting its utmost efforts for the study and implementation of the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress under the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era.
He called on the Party members and officials to bear in mind the important instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the province’s commitment to take the lead in the country’s modernization drive so as to give a strong impetus to the rural rejuvenation strategy to materialize the modernization of the province’s countryside and agriculture through ten years of efforts.
The CPC Jiangsu provincial chief also stressed the importance of strengthening the international exchanges of agricultural technologies through various activities and multi-level strategic cooperation to fuel the agricultural modernization drive.
He urged the Jiangsu people should strengthen innovation and ecological conservation, make steady improvement of government services and implement preferential policies so as to encourage the innovation and commercialization of the agricultural technologies attract more talents to Jiangsu for business startups.
20 major investment projects on agricultural technology cooperation were signed at the opening ceremony.
On Saturday morning, Lou Qinjian and Wu Zhenglong inspected the exhibition of modern agricultural science and technology achievements to learn about the latest products and technologies turned out by the research institutes and agricultural enterprises in Jiangsu.
