With less than 10 days to go until the first Zhangjiagang International Marathon on Dec 3, much of the preparation work for the big race has already been completed.
Hosted by Zhangjiagang municipal government, Jiangsu Sports Association, and the Chinese Athletics Association, the event is an A-class competition that Zhangjiagang has registered for the first time with the Chinese Athletics Association.
More than 12,000 running enthusiasts have signed up for the event. Some 200 referees have been trained and over 30 top referees assigned by China's General Sports Administration and Jiangsu Sports Bureau will arrive at Zhangjiagang in Dec 1.
More than 4,500 volunteers will also be on hand to ensure the marathon runs smoothly. Security volunteers, racing volunteers and medical volunteers will be stationed along the route.
Refreshments will also be provided along the marathon route ensuring that those taking part are taken care of and hydrated during their 42.19-kilometer ordeal.
