The Qinhuai River is a tributary river of Yangtze River with a total length of 110 km. It is the birthplace of the traditional Nanjing culture. Thus, it is called “Nanjing’s mother river” and the “life blood” of the city.
According to the Channel Management Office of Nanjing, they have already reached the annual target for Qinhuai River’s renovation. People can travel to the southernmost Lishui and Gaochun District by ship through Qinhuai River by 2020.
The renovation was started at the end of 2016 with construction between Jiangning District and Lishui District being the first stage. 37 bridges will be reconstructed and 97 km of the channel will be renovated according to the level – 4 standard. The Jiangning – Lishui section is expected to be finished by 2020.
The director of the project Chen Longhai said that people can also eat crabs and enjoy lake views on their visits to Lishui District and Gaochun District by then.
