The repair on the Yangtze River Bridge in Nanjing is in smooth progress since work began one year ago. The entire deck is expected to be paved with 400 steel girders with the main girder of each steel plate measuring about 8 meters wide and about 10 meters and weighing about 30 tons. Compared with the original concrete bridge, the integrity and strength of the main girder of the steel bridge will be improved remarkably. In addition, half of the work has been done concerning the repair and reinforcement on the bridge's hyperbolic arch and concrete pouring while the 2500-meter-long approach railing has been finished.
