The first tech vertical marathon on the theme "Technology plus Health" took place in Wuxi, Jiangsu province on Oct 15.
The race, organized by the city's ten leading tech companies was integrated with sci-tech elements, bringing a brand new sports experience to the runners and local residents.
Some 300 runners from across the country were invited to participate in the race which took place in three buildings with 22 floors.
Different from the ordinary vertical running, there's no referee to time the participants. Runners had to simply scan their unique palm print with mobile phones to check in and their running time was recorded via the palm print identification application on the phones.
Each participant that scanned over ten two-dimensional codes with their mobile phones during the race received assistance from the ten local tech firms.
In order to help runners complete the marathon, one of the tech firms provided the runners who scanned the firm's QR code with their latest products, mini air purifiers.
The purifiers are pen-size and runners could hang it around their necks. The negative oxygen ions produced by the purifiers are capable of dispersing the air pollutant within one meter of the wearer.
The negative oxygen ions itself can also make wearers feel refreshed, accelerate the body to synthesize and store vitamin, and activate the wearers physiological activities.
Participants' final scores were determined by the number of their scanned QR code, their running altitude, the total distance of their plane running and their lactate level.
Besides bonuses and certificates, the top three runners were awarded unique trophies, their 3D printed body models.
