Cargo throughput in Jiangsu maintained a steady growth in the first three quarters of the year due to the improvement of the port navigation across the province, latest statistics show. In the first three quarters of this year, the Port of Jiangyin registered 163 million tons of cargo throughputs, up 41.26% from a year ago. The cumulative amount of the cargo throughput was 161 million tons higher from the same period of last year, setting a historic high. 26.2783 million tons of export goods were handled, reaching a historic new high. The port of Lianyungang handled 173 million tons of cargo in the first three quarters, up 4.3% year on year. The cargo throughput in September alone increased 15% from a year ago, laying a solid basis for the completion of the annual goal. The Xinsu Iron Ore Port posted 23.6 million tons of cargo throughput from January through September with the importation of iron ore hitting 202 million tons.
