Xu Ming, deputy chairman of the provincial committee of the CPPCC, met on Tuesday in Nanjing with Robert Küng, Councilor and Head of the canton's Building, Environment and Economics Department of the Canton of Lucerne of Switzerland.
Xu Ming said Jiangsu enjoys strong economic complementarities with Switzerland which is also an important partner of Jiangsu.
Since the establishment of friendly state relations, Jiangsu and the Lucerne Canton carried out exchange and cooperation in advanced manufacturing, information technology and modern services and other fields.
He hoped that both sides would promote the exchange of scientific and technological enterprises, strengthen the cooperation in the field of exquisite agriculture, expand the scale of trade and two-way investment and promote cooperation in culture and tourism.
The canton of Lucerne is a canton of Switzerland. It is located in the centre of Switzerland. The population of the canton is 403,397. As of 2007, the population included 57,268 foreigners, or about 15.8% of the total population. The cantonal capital is Lucerne.
