French painter draws comfort women-themed paintings in Nanjing

  French painter Christian Poirot recently visited the Nanjing Comfort Stations Liji Lane Site Museum and donated oil paintings he's produced there under the theme of the “comfort women” to the museum, reported Jiangsu media on Oct 12.

  Born in 1961, Christian Poirot is a well-known oil painter in France and was once awarded the honor of Chevalier and Academician by the College de France. Poirot passed Nanjing several years ago and learned from his friends about the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese invaders in 1937. He was so astonished and then read a lot of historic materials about the massacre. He even made a special visit to the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders. He completed a Nanjing Massacre-themed oil painting Atrocity in Jul 2015. He said that this work had been the largest and most difficult one throughout his 30 years of painting career.
