Hengtong Group of Wujiang, Jiangsu, won the bid for the Brazilian telecommunications fiber purchase project. The bid amount was about 38 million yuan ($57.8 million). Hengtong Group has provided a lot of fiber optic communications products, including data communications fiber communications and power-related products for Rio and St. Paul.
Suzhou’s enterprises have 322 investment projects along the route of the Belt and Road Initiative with a cumulative investment of about $2.77 billion. Private enterprises account for more than 60 percent of the total investment. The investment is mainly in the textile, clothing, general equipment manufacturing and other fields. In 2016, the trade volume between Suzhou and countries along the initiative reached nearly $51.7 billion, accounting for one-fifth of the city's total imports and exports.
