Withdrawing money from an ATM with a bank card could soon become a thing of the past thanks to the development of facial recognition technology.
Facial recognition technology is now being used at ATMs by several of China's biggest banks, including China Merchants Bank, Bank of Jiangsu and Agricultural Bank of China.
The ATMs use built-in infrared binocular cameras to ensure that users cannot trick the system using photos, videos, or masks of a person's face.
The new machines are now on trial and the withdrawal limit is currently set at 3,000 yuan ($456.4).
Here is how to make a withdrawal using the facial recognition system.
Step 1: Select "Facial Recognition"
Press the "Facial Recognition" button and the following interface will appear.
Step 2: Type in your phone number
After the recognition is done, type in the phone number you registered with the bank when opening your account.
