Wu Zhenglong, Governor of Jiangsu, met with former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and Israel's Minister of Environmental Protection Zeev ElkinThursday in Nanjing, the governor also conveyed the greetings of Li Qiang, the CPC Jiangsu provincial secretary who is now on an inspection tour in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Wu Zhenglong said that of all the EU members Germany is one of the closestpartners of Jiangsu and Mr. Schroeder is an old friend of the people of Jiangsu.
Mr. Schroeder was in Jiangsu for the launch ceremony of the FMC project.
The Governor noted that the German-funded project is expected to inject new vigor into the cooperation of both sides.
The participation in the Belt and Road initiative and the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries have provided important guidelines for both sides to follow for the promotion of cooperation in the future, the governor said.
Wu hoped that the two sides will further carry out practical cooperation in the areas of intelligent manufacturing, green environmental protection and the others through joint efforts to better benefit the people of both countries and make new contributions to Sino-German friendship.
Schroeder said that Jiangsu is very important in Sino-German exchanges, and that Jiangsu and Germany should continue to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in many fields, promote the exchange and interaction between SMEs, and push forward the“Made in China 2025 and the Germany "Industrial 4.0".
During his meeting with Mr Elkin, Wu Zhenglong said that the bilateral relations have developed rapidly in the past 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties.
Israel’s new technologies and new concepts in the field of environmental protection are worthy to be followed by Jiangsu, the governor said.
He hoped that both sides will further strengthenenvironmental governance and environmental policy exchange on the basis of the good cooperation to deepen the cooperation in environmental protection technology and environmental protection industry, build strong platforms and carriers for the promotion of a better future.
Mr. Elkin expressed his appreciation for Jiangsu's efforts and achievements in environmental protection, and hoped to further build up the cooperation mechanism with Jiangsu through further collaboration in environmental protection technology and industrial park construction.
