The happy coincidence of the Mid-Autumn Festival with the National Day holiday is expected to give a strong boost to the tourism market over a period of eight days.

The upcoming 8-day holiday has seen an unprecedented upsurge of enthusiasm for travel, as is evidenced by the growing reservations being made with travel agencies in Jiangsu.

Traveling to tourist destinations of northwest China will become a hot choice for many holidaymakers due to the opening of the high-speed railway between Baoji and Lanzhou.

The country is expected to witness severe highway congestions during the toll-free holiday travel peak which allows passenger cars with seven seats or less to travel for free on toll roads during major holidays.

Traveling by bullet train and flights will be a better choice for many people though the air fares and hotel room rates are expected to shoot up significantly during the holiday.

Due to the holiday effect, traveling during the Mid-Autumn Festival with the National Day holiday will become more expensive with a price rise of 20% on the average and 50% at the maximum.
