Savvy tourists are opting for slack season tours as travel agencies have slashed the prices on all travel routes to attract as many tourists as possible before the arrival of the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday.
The prices on major tour routes have begun to drop as the summer vacation ends. Outbound travel is cheaper with a price reduction ranging from 1000 yuan to 2000 yuan compared with the high season in the summer and a maximum discount of 4000 yuan can be expected on a single tour product.
The most preferred tour routes for the staggered travel includes Japan, Thailand and the islands in Southeast Asia.
Quite unexpectedly, the BRICS Summit being held in Xiamen, has boosted the number of visitors traveling to the seaside city for sightseeing.
In the meantime, reservation has started for holiday tours during the 8-day Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday and tourist destinations with splendid autumn sceneries are among the most sought-after attractions. The cost of traveling during the holiday is expected to shoot up significantly.
