Xu Yijie, a student with Jiangyin Nanjing Senior High School, has stood out among the competitors to win the gold award at the 2017 Japan Design and Invention Exhibition for his invention of the Internet of Things metal detection shoes.
The exhibition, held between August 4 and 6 in Tokyo, is organized by the World Intellectual Property Association and the International Youth Invention Competition Organizing Committee.
The Internet of things metal detection shoes will trigger alarms once a metal material appears within the range of 50 centimeters.
It is also able to give feedback to the users through cell phone apps after locating the metal through the application of the IoT technologies.
Judges at the 2017 Japan Design and Invention Exhibition spoke highly of Xu Yijie's invention for its potential use in military operations and anti-terrorism.
