A Russian man, Maksim, was learning Chen’s Taichi Sword under the instruction of his Chinese master at the Liu Kai Free-combat Taichi Boxing Gym in Suqian of Jiangsu, Aug 15.
The 35-year-old is from Perm city of Russia. He started to learn about Taichi boxing – traditional Chinese shadow boxing - ten years ago, and has since been looking forward to learning the art in China.
After receiving a Russian-language leaflet on the Liu Kai Free-combat Taichi Boxing Gym earlier this year, while participating in a martial art contest in Russia, Maksim decided to go to Suqian, China, to learn authentic Taichi boxing from Liu Kai, boxing coach and owner of the gym.
After arriving in Suqian on Aug 7, Maksim immediately started a ten-day intensive training course on Taichi boxing at the gym.
“My master Liu Kai’s explanations are quite understandable, and his movement demonstration is very clear with each detailed action being perfectly showcased,” he said.
“I will keep practicing Taichi boxing after I go back to Russia, and I also have a plan to learn Taichi pushing hands from coach Liu when coming to China next time.”
