The stem cell from Taiwan is expected to save the life of a 12-year-old leukemic girl in Suzhou. The transplanting surgery is scheduled to take place on Thursday evening. Let’s pray for the success.

The Children’s Hospital of Soochow University has got everything ready for the transplant of the hematopoietic stem cell contributed by a Taiwanese donor. This is the 8th time for the bone marrow from Taiwan to be contributed for the life-saving surgery on leukemic patients in Suzhou.

Xiaoting, a 12-year-old girl from Jinhua city, Zhejiang province, began to show serious symptoms of anemia two years ago.

A genetic testing confirmed that she had contracted congenital Keratosispilaris, a genetic disorder of keratinization of hair follicles of the skin.

Bone marrow transplant is the only treatment to cure congenital Keratosispilaris, which will reverse the hematopoietic failure and prevent leukemia in the future.

Xiaoting’s parents have arranged for her to receive bone marrow transplant yet there is no easy match.

The Children’s Hospital of Soochow University contacted the Tzu Chi Stem Cells Center in Taiwan to submit the application for a match.

Several months later, a matching stem cell was found in Taiwan.

Xiaoting is now transferred to the purification cabin, waiting for the arrival of the stem cell from Taiwan.

The doctors from Suzhou have set off for Taiwan and are expected to get back to the children’s hospital on Thursday evening.

The hospital has got everything ready for the transplant surgery to take place at the earliest possible time.
