13 prefectural cities fix plans for provincial horticulture expo

  The 13 prefectural cities in Jiangsu have fixed their plans for exhibition parks at the 10th provincial horticulture expo that is slated to take place on September 28 next year in Zhaolinwan, Yizhen, a county level city in Yangzhou.

  As the host city, Yangzhou has taken the lead to construct its exhibition park that will reproduce the splendor the city used to have in the Tang Dynasty between 618 and 917.

  Themed on distinctive Jiangsu for beautiful life, the tenth horticulture expo will showcase the latest achievements of contemporary gardening and horticulture.

  16 exhibition parks will be designed for the entire exhibition venue that covers 1,800 acres, including 13 urban exhibition parks, 2 masters’ parks and 1 specialty park.

  Each city’s exhibition park has a theme corresponding to the city’s distinctive feature, such as the pebble stone of the Nanjing Park, the charm of the Wu culture of the Suzhou Park, the lake and sea of the Nantong Park, the red-crowned cranes in the marsh reeds of the Yancheng Park, and the Taihu Lake of the Wuxi Park.

  The Yangzhou Park will highlight its ancient splendor as well as the sceneries of the Slender West Lake. 
        Nanjing: Centered on the culture of stones

  Nanjing Park puts focus on “stones”, on the account of the history of the city and the regional geomorphic features. The park is designed to demonstrate the ancient culture and characteristics of this riverside city with abundant hilly landscape and waterfront space.

  Wuxi: Superb Scenery of Lake Taihu

  Wuxi Park puts forth efforts into showing the excellent scene of Lake Taihu, especially the view of Turtle Head Isle(Yuantouzhu). Through the lush green landscape and application of Internet of Things technology, the history and modern life of Wuxi will be vividly pictured for the audience.

  Xuzhou: Flowing Water Breeds Han Dynasty Culture

  Xuzhou Park is going to fully take advantage of site conditions and ecological restoration technology in order to visualize the Han Dynasty culture(Western Han and Eastern Han Dynasties) and Peng Zu culture. Eight typical landscapes including parts of Weishan Lake will reflect the great changes along with time.

  Changzhou: Life on Bucolic

  Changzhou Park, borrowing the concept of “barren fields with half hip” from Su Shi(1037~1101, Chinese poet), intends to reveal modern people’s wish backing to countryside.Idyllic scenery of contemporary Jiangnan area (regions south of the Yangtze River) will be relived through the use of crisscrossing rivers and clusters of cottages.

  Suzhou: Idyllic Water Township

  Suzhou Park attaches great importance to the classic landscape of Jiangnan water township. The elements of water townships, fields and gardens are adopted to embody the poetic and affluent life in Jiangnan area.

  Garden of Nantong : Charm of rivers and seas

  Nantong is a coastal city in the east side of Jiangsu Province. The garden of Nantong city in this horticultural exposition will apply the resources of “5 gardens” in Nantong’s history as well as other historical and cultural events. It features 5 major landscapes including Shadow in the East, Peach in the West, Lotus in the South, Cruise in the North and Garden in the Middle. With the combination of traditional concept of garden-building and modern technology, the garden will unfold the magnificent landscape of Nantong and reveal the charm of rivers and seas.

  Garden of Lianyungang : From barren to fertile

  Based on Lianyungang city’s unique geolocation, the Garden of Lianyungang will apply the theme of voyage to connect oceanic factors like rudder, wave and reef, etc. The garden also will use the afforestation technology to transform saline-alkali soil and show visitors the mountains and seas of this harbor city.

  Garden of Huai’an : Wetland

  The garden of Huai’an got its idea from the history of water transportation. It will combine the traditional garden-building with the modern view to present the unique geological landscape and various wetland scenery in the central part of Jiangsu Province.

  Garden of Yancheng : Cranes Dancing

  The garden of Yancheng city aims to present the sea salt and wetland culture of this coastal city. It also will use raw materials from Yancheng city to build the wetland landscape.

  Yangzhou : Feast of Classic Gardens

  As the host city of this year’s horticultural exposition of Jiangsu Province, Yangzhou is building the biggest garden covering an area of 19,900 square meters. The garden will be divided into 4 chronological stages – Han, Tang, Ming, and Qing dynasties, to present different styles of classic gardens. Moreover, it will build a museum of classic gardens. The committee is proud to have the prestigious garden master – Meng Zhaozhen (87 years old) to be the designer of Yuanye Garden, named after the book Yuanye, the first book of classic gardens in the world. At the same time, the committee also invites the academician of China Engineering Academy, professor Wang Jianguo to be the designer of the main exhibition hall.

  Garden of Zhenjiang : Waters Holding Mountains

  Zhenjiang city is on the west of Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu Province. It’s a city where mountains and rivers interconnect with each other. The garden of Zhenjiang will use calligraphy, poetry etc. to explore the charm of “two rivers holding one mountain”.

  Garden of Taizhou : the Green City

  The garden of Taizhou explores the water, opera and residency cultures of Taizhou city. It uses the concept of “Dance Sleeves” to organize the garden, trying to show the scenery of Yangtze river’s downstream.

  Garden of Suqian : Oasis

  The garden of Suqian uses Suqian city’s uniqueness of “two lakes and one mountain”. It aims to build an ecological garden with modernity, openness, and inclusiveness.
