This week, a freehand version of the Earthquake Escape Manual appeared in Suzhou Dagongyuan Community.
This manual popularizes some earthquake self-help knowledge in a concise and vivid way by using a cartoon figure - “matchstick man” - to show what to do in case of an earthquake.
The manual was made by Xu Wenye - a staff member of the Dagongyuan Community. The whole process (from conception to final completion) took just three days. The manual can be easily understood, with simple explanatory notes, thus residents, especially school kids, can master earthquake self-help knowledge within a short time.
Xu said that she had specially consulted the professionals of Suzhou’s Blue Sky Rescue Team. “Matchstick man” takes different actions in different locations, in line with the correct earthquake self-help methods.
