The 2016 World Internet of Things Exposition in Wuxi showcased the host city’s achievements in the capacity of the National Sensor Network Innovation Demonstration Zone and has since opened up new opportunities for the manufacturing powerhouse to boost its industrial transformation and upgrading through the IoT plus strategy.

As the country’s largest manufacturer of lithium battery automation equipment, Wuxi Xiandao Intelligent Equipment Company has teamed with IBM to create a pilot cloud network which enables workshop managers to keep track on the real time production through an LED screen.

The network has also enabled designers to work concurrently on the same platform to ensure data co-sharing and interconnectivity in the R&D, production, sales and services.

The closed-off management has ensured seamless docking for the different departments that seem to work in separate ways.

After the implementation of intelligent production, the enterprise’s on-schedule delivery rate has increased by 95% and its inventory turnover rate increased by 30%. Its data processing, statistical reporting of the production efficiency and accuracy rate has increased by 6 folds.

The Internet of Things is making manufacturing smarter than ever.

The Wuxi plant of SAIC Maxus, for example, has optimized its stamping assembly line by relying on the IoT technologies to slash the time spent on the same workload from the previous 2 hours to 9 minutes.

Wuxi Pinguan IOT Technology Co., Ltd has developed a streamlined reading system for Heilan, a well-known menswear manufacturer, to read the information of a carton of garments within several minutes.
