The second Youth Olympic Games was held in Nanjing from August 16 to 28, 2014, during which the 20,000 YOG volunteers were a bright highlight for their vigor, vitality and perfect services.
Today, the flame of YOG has long died out, but the volunteers are still in active service throughout the city.
As Nanjing has deepened the construction of a "volunteer city" in recent years, the YOG volunteers have become the image spokesperson for Nanjing Youth League and the three million youngsters in the city, and have participated in social development by providing volunteer services.
The 2017 Roller Games World Championships will be held in Nanjing from August 27 to September 10, during which the volunteers will once again demonstrate their diligence and competence.
Li Qiushi, head of Nanjing YOG Volunteer Team, said that being a volunteer has become a trend among young people in Jiangsu province. "In cities, we paired with children of migrant workers to help them; in western countryside, we participated in poverty alleviate and contributed to local development; outside China, we spread friendship."
