People in Jiangsu province have been mobilized to make donations to the quake victims in Jiuzhaigou County, southwest China’s Sichuan province after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Jiuzhaigou County on Tuesday.
Hua Yougen, a resident of Wujin district, Changzhou city, remitted 1000 yuan to the Red Cross Society of Sichuan. The 67-year-old man is known as a Good Samaritan in Caoqiao, the town where he lives. Over the past decades, he has set aside a large portion of his money for philanthropist activities such as donating money to the victims of the Wenchuan quake in 2008 and the Hope Project Primary School in Yunnan province. With his meager income, he has reached out to many needy people.
A couple in Suzhou has also donated 1000 yuan to the quake victims in Jiuzhaigou. As luck would have it, the couple was the survivor of the devastating Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 when they were in Wenchuan for a gathering with their friends.
The couple was buried under a floor slab with their life hanging in the balance from continuous bleeding.
The armed police and PLA soldiers joined hands to life them out of danger.
The elderly couple therefore did not hesitate a moment to make the donation by visiting the community office early in the morning.
