People of Jiangsu as well as the troops based in the province have felt excited at the country’s first ever army day parade that was held on Sunday.
The troops based in Jiangsu sat in front of the TV sets early Sunday morning to wait for the beginning of the parade.
Residents of Jiangsu got together Sunday morning to view the grand parade beamed on the TV sets. The parade made us excited and proud of the Chinese army’s prowess, many residents said.
In the meantime, army-civilian get-togethers were held in various parts of the province to celebrate the 90th birthday of the PLA.
China on Sunday kicked off a grand military parade to mark the 90th birthday of the People's Liberation Army in the Zhurihe military training base in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
This is the first time that China commemorates the Army Day, which falls on Aug. 1, with a military parade since the founding of New China in 1949.
Forty-one helicopters flew in two formations that spelt the Chinese characters of "Ba Yi" -- which mean the date Aug. 1 -- and the number "90."
They were followed by vehicles on the ground carrying three flags -- that of the Communist Party of China, the state and the military.
Some of the latest military hardware for electronic warfare were displayed in the grand parade.
Among hundreds of armaments that were paraded at the Zhurihe military training base were 16 items of the PLA's latest electronic warfare equipment that can disrupt enemy radar and communication in air defense and field battles.
The parade also showcased two models of electronic reconnaissance vehicles, a Y-8 electronic jamming aircraft, and a group of military drones that can "paralyze and suppress" enemy early-warning and command communication systems.
