12 teams of middle school students from across the province gathered in Changzhou city for the province’s inaugural mock CPPCC session for juveniles. CPPCC is short for Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, China’s advisory body.
The mock session is meant to raise the awareness of social responsibility and the sense of citizenship for the juveniles born after the year 2000 or the so-called 00-ers.
The youngsters submitted proposals on livelihood issues with the themes ranging from cyber violence, urban blind tracks and e-scooter regulation.
The team from Jiangsu Tianjiabing Senior High School displayed their focus on the establishment of the garbage sorting system in the urban areas.
Many participating teams took advantage of the summer vacation to make street interviews and distribute questionnaires for data collecting.
During the three-day event, the students also got involved in seminars to improve their ability to participate in the administration and discussion of state affairs.
8 teams will be selected to participate in the national juvenile mock CPPCC session to be held in Hangzhou next month.
The juvenile mock CPPCC session was launched in 2012 at the proposal of the China Zhigong Party with a view to informing the students on China’s political consultative system through the understanding of the organizational layout and rules of procedures for CPPCC.
