Wu Zhenglong was elected governor of east China's Jiangsu Province on July 30. The decision was made at the 6th plenary session of the 12th provincial People's Congress, the local legislative body.
Wu, a native of the provincial capital Nanjing, was born in 1964. He worked as deputy secretary of the Communist Party of China Jiangsu provincial committee and secretary of CPC Nanjing municipal committee since October 2016.
Born in 1964, Wu has a bachelor's degree in engineering and is a senior engineer. From 1999 to 2016, he held senior posts in Chongqing municipality and Shanxi province until 2016, when he was transferred to work as Party chief of Nanjing.
From 1984 to 1999, Wu worked in various posts in some ministries and a large State-owned company, including the former ministry of ordnance industry, the former state commission of machinery industry and China National Machinery Equipment Group Corp.
Since 1999, Wu worked first as the deputy director of the general office of the Chongqing government, and later as secretary-general of the municipality.
After working in Chongqing municipality for 15 years, Wu was transferred to Shanxi province in 2014. He worked as the Party chief of Taiyuan, the provincial capital, for two years before being appointed Party chief of Nanjing and deputy Party chief of Jiangsu province in September 2016.
Wu was also member of the 11th and 12th National People's Congress, and was an alternate member of the CPC Central Committee.
