On January 16, the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee and the Wuxi Municipal People’s Government grandly held a conference to commend the advanced individuals and collectives fighting against COVID-19 and review and summarize their course of hard struggle. Huang Qin, Secretary of the the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee, attended the conference and emphasized the need to thoroughly implement the keynotes of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during the inspection in Jiangsu Province, vigorously promote the great spirit of fighting against COVID-19 and persisting in forging ahead in spite of hardship, so as to make the Wuxi contributions to comprehensively building a modern socialist country. Du Xiaogang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee and Mayor of Wuxi, presided over the conference. Xu Yiping, Director of the Standing Committee of the Wuxi Municipal People's Congress, Zhou Minwei, Chairman of the Wuxi Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, and Xu Jie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee, attended the conference. Representatives of the advanced individuals and advanced collectives of Wuxi fighting against COVID-19 in the whole country who were commended by the Central Committee of the CPC, the State Council and the Central Military Commission were invited to sit on the rostrum.
In order to commend the advanced, promote the righteousness and give full play to the exemplary role of models, the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee and the Wuxi Municipal People’s Government awarded the title of “advanced individual of fighting against COVID-19 in Wuxi” to 300 people such as Mr. Cao Liqiang and the title of "advanced collective of fighting against COVID-19 in Wuxi" to 100 collectives such as the Foreign Affairs Office of the Jiangyin Municipal People's Government.
The conference was held online through video. Branch venues were set up in all districts and county-level cities, the Wuxi Economic Development Zone and the Wuxi Civic Center. Members of the Standing Committee of the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee, Vice Mayors of Wuxi, heads of the Wuxi Municipal Intermediate People's Court and the Wuxi Municipal People's Procuratorate, heads and deputy heads of the party committees and people’s governments of all districts and county-level cities, heads of the member units of the Wuxi Pandemic Prevention and Control Emergency Headquarter, representatives of the advanced individuals and advanced collectives of Wuxi fighting against COVID-19 in the whole province and the whole country who were commended by the Central Committee of the CPC, the State Council, the Central Military Commission, the CPC Jiangsu Province Committee and the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, and representatives of the advanced individuals and advanced collectives who were commended by the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee and the Wuxi Municipal People’s Government attended the conference at the main venue.
