The list of the 2020 Suzhou Top 10 Heart-winning Projects was announced at a ceremony held on Jan. 15. Miao Hongmei, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal People’s Congress, and Cao Houling, vice mayor of Suzhou, attended the event.
The selection lasted more than one month. The 20 candidate projects had been broadcast in mass media such as television, newspapers and the Internet. The activity received extensive attention and attracted more than 19 million online votes, hitting a record high.
The list of the winners is as follows: the construction, renovation or expansion of 40 kindergartens, primary schools and middle schools; “Su Zhou Dao” App; the construction or renovation of 3.6 million square meters of green land plus 20 free parks; Changshu City’s “One Thousand Beautiful Villages” project; Zhangjiagang City’s Yangtze River ecological shoreline construction project; Kunshan City’s Kunshan Public Health Center; Suzhou Industrial Park’s Jinji Lake and its neighboring areas water environment treatment project; the vocational training for 1,330,700 person; the Grand Canal (Suzhou section) embankment reinforcement project; and Taicang City’s rural road improvement and infrastructure upgrading project.
It is reported that in 2021, Suzhou will implement 35 projects in the public interest, with a total annual investment of about 35 billion yuan, which cover various fields such as education, culture and sports, medical and elderly care, employment and social security, ecological environment, living environment, and convenience services.
