Changshu Museum rated as national first-level museum

  The Chinese Museum Association released the list of the fourth batch of national first-, second- and third-level museums recently. The Changshu Museum has been rated as a national first-level museum, the only one among the county-level museums in the Yangtze River Delta region.

  The Changshu Museum is located at the foot of Yushan Mountain in the ancient city of Changshu. It was opened in September 1997 and was included in the first batch of national second-level museums in 2009. The museum has two branches, namely, the Museum of the Yushan School of Guqin Art and the Wang Shigu Memorial Hall. It ranks top among the county-level museums in the number and level of items collected. There are more than 20,000 pieces and sets of cultural relics in its collection, including 22 and 266 pieces of national first- and second-level cultural relics. Apart from permanent exhibitions of porcelain and jade products, paintings and calligraphy works, the museum presents more than 20 public welfare exhibitions every year.

  The Changshu Museum, which is committed to strengthening museum-school cooperation, hosts more than 30 expert lectures and other educational activities annually. In 2018, it was enlisted in the first batch of social education bases in Jiangsu Province.
