编者按:2020年开年以来,新冠病毒疫情牵动着全球人民的心。随着疫情在世界多个国家蔓延,江苏各地也纷纷向其他国家和地区伸出援手,彰显疫情防控中的“江苏力量”。江苏国际频道、我苏网联合推出“We Stand with YOU” (和你在一起)系列报道,讲述在苏外籍人士积极参与疫情防控的暖心行动,也展现江苏与全球人民休戚与共,携手抗击疫情的责任担当。
这几天，330位曾经在英国留学的中国人，收到了来自英国驻华大使吴百纳女爵士的感谢信。吴大使代表英国政府，向他们的慷慨捐赠表示衷心感谢。同时收到的，还有一封来自英国红十字会的感谢信。两封感谢信的背后，是一群曾经在英国度过留学时光的中国人，以及他们对中英友谊发自肺腑的珍视。

330 Chinese graduates who studied in the UK received letters from Barbara Woodward, British Ambassador to China, over the past few days. On behalf of the British Government, Barbara Woodward expressed her heartfelt thanks to them for their generous donation to help UK’s fight against COVID-19.
They also received a thank-you letter from the British Red Cross. Behind the letters are a group of Chinese who have spent time studying in the UK, who cherish the friendship between China and the UK from the bottom of their hearts.
这群人有个共同的名字，“志奋领学者”。他们来自全国各地，各行各业，都曾凭着优异的成绩，获得了英国志奋领奖学金的支持，在英国大学度过了一年的难忘时光。来自南京的张宏亮是这次捐赠的组织者，在疫情席卷英国时，他向同为志奋领学者的“领友”们发出了捐赠倡议。很快，一笔笔捐款，伴随着祝福汇到了指定账户。又通过领友的努力，采购了两台呼吸机，搭乘英国政府的货物包机，火速运到了英国抗疫最前线。之后，又将剩余款项，凑整成1万英镑，汇至英国红十字会。
This group of people has a common name - "Chevener". They have all won the Chevening scholarship and spent a year in UK.
Zhang Hongliang from Nanjing is the organizer of the donation this time. He called on fellow Cheveners to help UK as the COVID-19 pandemic swept across Britain. Through the efforts of Cheveners, they purchased two ventilators and sent them to the forefront of UK's fight against the pandemic. Meanwhile, they also donated 10,000 pounds to the British Red Cross.
The ventilators have been shipped in April on a Virgin Atlantic flight from Shanghai to London alongside 76 other ventilators that have been purchased by the British Government alongside PPE for NHS Hospitals.
随着物资和款项一起发送的，是一封给英国人民的公开信。“作为志奋领学者，在英国的留学经历给我们留下了美好的回忆。我们愿为帮助英国人民渡过难关贡献绵薄之力。”“我们的座右铭是远见卓识、积极主动和以身作则，因此，我们中国志奋领学者希望通过与英国人民共同抗击疫情来表示我们的支持和关心。我们诚挚祝愿通过我们的共同努力能够快速取得抗疫的全面胜利。”
危难之中，物资至关重要，而文字也会给人信心和力量。这330人与绝大多数的英国人，都远隔山水，素昧平生，但他们用简单平实的语言，一种直接、坦诚的交流方式，传递着真诚的关切和共情。
Together with the ventilators and financial support, they also wrote a letter to all the British people.
In the open letter the Cheveners said: "We wish to show our support and care by standing with British people in fighting with the pandemic. We have good faith and wish a full and swift success in our joint effort."

而英国方面，也给予了热切回应。英国政府官方网站用中英双语刊载了这则消息，并附上公开信全文。英国外交部亚洲事务国务大臣奈杰尔•亚当斯（Nigel Adams）专门就此致谢。英国驻华大使吴百纳，从异常繁忙的工作中抽出时间，和捐赠者代表进行视频会议，亲自表示感谢。会议时间一再延长，而据会议组织者事后说，和大家视频结束后，大使“真的非常高兴”。不久，大使亲笔签名的感谢信，也送到了捐赠组织者的手上。
The British government website published the news in both Chinese and English with the letter attached. Minister of State for Asia Nigel Adams said: "Thank you to the graduates from the UK Government’s Chevening programme for their fund-raising efforts."
Barbara Woodward, British Ambassador to China, took time out of her busy schedule to personally thank the Cheveners via a video conference.
单论数额，这并不是一笔所谓“巨款”，但以大使为首的英国外交官们能如此热情诚挚地一再和捐赠者们互动及致谢，因为他们看重的，是困难时刻“领友”们的一片心意。也希望通过这样的热烈回应，和中国公众形成更加频繁友好的互动。恐惧和担忧终将过去，人民会铭记友谊和爱的温暖，这封来自英国驻华大使的感谢信，以及刊登在英国政府网站的公开信，是最好的见证。
There are currently over 200,000 Chinese students studying in the UK and over 600,000 alumni from UK universities. UK Alumni are the bedrock of China-UK relations forming a strong professional network of ambassadors who can promote effective relations between UK and China.
