Industrial use of electricity in Jiangsu province surged by 3.94% year on year to stand at 50.25 billion kWh, surpassing the average monthly growth rate of last year, the latest data from State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company shows.
In May, the primary industry in Jiangsu reported a year-on-year increase of 13.5% in the electricity consumption, the fastest growth rate in the three industries.
The secondary industry saw its electricity consumption climb approximately 3.7% year-on-year, contributing 71.2% to the province’s entire growth and driving force behind the growth of electricity consumption across the province.
The prosperity index of the typical industrial industry released by Jiangsu Electric Power shows that in May, 90% of the industrial industries have a prosperity of more than 100, and the prosperity of the basic materials industry such as steel, equipment manufacturing, and cement remains on the high side.
This year's prosperity index continued to climb from March and exceeded the 100 mark for the first time in May, showing the strong resilience and good development trend of Jiangsu's industrial economy.
The industry boom in southern Jiangsu, where the economy accounts for nearly 60% of the provincial total, has rebounded significantly.
The growth rate of computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing sectors tops the provincial ranking during the period.
