Hodo CEO Zhou's 'red character' leads development- Note of deputy of the 19th CPC National Congress

  Located in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, Hodo Group is a key group in the province with 100,000 workers, two industrial parks, three famous trademarks, four industrial blocks, an annual sales volume of more than 50 billion yuan, and a 60-year history.

  Zhou Haijiang, secretary of the party committee, chairman and CEO of Hodo Group and a delegate to the 19th CPC National Congress, said the secret to Hodo's successful development is following the Party and fostering a red character to lead industrial development.

  In the past five years, Hodo, responding to the national innovation drive strategy, has strengthened the real economy by using cutting-edge technologies such as IoT, cloud computing and the Internet. In this process, the group's operating revenue and tax contributions have increased by 49.33 and 110.03 percent respectively, it listed another two companies and was rated as a national quality benchmark for industrial enterprises by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

  Having developed over so many years, Hodo Group has formed nearly 100 Party branches and has more than 1,300 Party members. It has Party classes every Monday and Friday, and workers on the production line can listen to Zhou Haijiang's Party lectures. The Party Committee of Hodo Group was titled an "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization" and about 30,000 people come to visit and draw lessons from the group every year.

  In response to China's call for "Going Global", Hodo Group built the 11.3-square-kilometer Sihanoukville Port Special Economic Zone in Cambodia in 2007, which today has 116 companies and creates job opportunities for 17,000 local people.

  In May 2017, Zhou Haijiang personally invested 20 million yuan ($3 million) to set up the Wuxi Hodo Foundation for Old Party Members, creating a precedent of private foundation for Party members in the country, and the second public welfare private foundation set up by Zhou. Two years ago, his father Zhou Yaoting and he jointly invested 20 million yuan to set up the Wuxi Yaoting Charity Fund, which focuses on helping families with elders aged over 100.

  On Aug 26, Zhou Haijiang donated 10 million yuan to the China Foundation for Peace and Development on behalf of Hodo Group, which will be used to help the development of Cambodia and other countries along the Belt and Road.

  Statistics show that Zhou Haijiang has donated nearly 50 million yuan to public welfare undertakings over recent years, and Hodo Group has donated materials worth more than 300 million cumulatively.
