East China’s Jiangsu province has reported sustained economic growth since the start of this year, laying a solid foundation for sustained high-quality development in the coming year.

Under the supervision of Yangzhou Customs, the 64000-ton bulk carrier constructed by New Ocean Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. was delivered for export at berth 5 of New Ocean.

The ship is equipped with an intelligent energy efficiency management system, which uses intelligent technologies such as industrial big data analysis and machine learning to optimize its daily operations.

“In recent years, with China's high-quality development, we have provided green ship products and improved shipbuilding efficiency. We have signed orders for over 60 ships until the delivery of this ship,” said Chen Herong, Executive Vice General Manager of New Ocean Shipbuilding Yangzhou Co., Ltd.

In 2018, Sumida Shipbuilding was restructured into Ocean Shipbuilding and New Ocean Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. was established. In the past five years, New Ocean Shipbuilding has delivered 75 ships, including the delivery of 11 new ships this year.

Since the beginning of this year, Yangzhou has witnessed a booming export of new ships. According to statistics from Yangzhou Customs, in the first 10 months, Yangzhou recorded a ship export of 6.78 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 53.9%. The export ship types include liquid chemical ships, high-end passenger and roll off ships, multi-purpose container ships, bulk carriers and some other ship types.

To further assist the export of ships, Yangzhou Customs will implement the service of report-based dispatch and appointment-based clearance, which will improve the efficiency of export operations and accelerate the turnover of ship products.

“In the next step, we will optimize the regulatory process around the needs of foreign trade enterprises and terminals, improve inspection efficiency, facilitate the clearance and export of new ships, and help ship export firms accelerate their progress,” said Ding Jinxiang, Official from the Transportation Vehicle Supervision Department of Yangzhou Customs Office in Yangzhou Port.

From January to November, the Taicang Port Area of Suzhou Port recorded a cargo throughput of 255 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.49%, including 102 million tons of foreign trade cargo throughput, a year-on-year increase of 15.96%.

As of now, Taicang Port has recorded 166019 vessel arrivals and departures, a year-on-year increase of 12.4%, including 7315 international vessels, a year-on-year increase of 13.8%.

The Taicang Maritime Safety Bureau has established a government green service channel to ensure the smooth opening and operation of new routes, fully unleashing the comprehensive advantage of Taicang Port's proximity to the export economy hinterland.

“We have improved inspection efficiency, optimized regulatory models, and continuously improved the customs clearance environment of Taicang Port to boost port throughput,” said Chen Song, Chief of the Inspection Department of Suzhou Taicang Customs.

At present, the first to fourth phases of Taicang Port have opened 18 berths along the 5932-meter container shoreline, bringing into shape a network of 5 major shipping routes including direct and long-distance transshipment, making it a hub port with the largest number, density, and coverage of shipping routes along the Yangtze River.
