East China’s Jiangsu province reported growth in traditional textile machinery industry in 2003 by promoting innovation-oriented development and digital transformation, JSBC reports.

At the Bosideng Intelligent Production Factory in Changshu, down jackets are about to be rolled offline and shipped to the UK for sale at the Bosideng specialty store on New Bond Street in the central business district of London.

In recent years, Bosideng has promoted the deep integration of new generation digital technology and traditional down jacket business models to empower product innovation with digital quality management, transform retail models, and promote digital intelligence management so as to have achieved a consumer-centered full chain collaboration through digital "research, production, supply, and sales".

The enterprise has been selected as one of the first batch of "Digital Navigation" enterprises in the country aside from building a national level intelligent manufacturing demonstration factory. Recently, it has been listed as one of the first batch of 5G factories in the country.

At the Bosideng Intelligent Factory, daily feedback from global sales channels to the system automatically generates production instructions, changing the long-standing contradiction of high inventory and insufficient supply in the clothing industry.

Persisting in the dual drive of brand leadership and digital transformation, Bosideng, which has ranked first in sales nationwide for 28 consecutive years, has made appearances at the three major international fashion weeks in New York, Milan, and London for three consecutive years by vigorously launching its own brand exports and moving from being a "Chinese brand" to a "world brand".

“In the international market, we are increasing our expansion of our own brand exports and exploring cross-border e-commerce and other sales models. We are also increasing our international brand promotion efforts by strengthening the integration of international high potential resources and brand internationalization. In the domestic market, we are leading consumer demand with innovative product technology, functional fashion design, and achieving global leadership from down jacket scale to brand comprehensive competitiveness,” said Gao Dekang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bosideng Group.

In recent years, factors such as international trade disputes and insufficient market demand have dealt a heavy blow to the textile and clothing industry. Many textile and clothing enterprises in Jiangsu, like Bosideng, have relied on solid internal strength to create brands, reduce costs, and expand the market. Since the start of this year, they have not only achieved positive growth, but also increased their proportion in the country to 21.5% from the end of last year, demonstrating strong development resilience.

Traditional industries such as textiles, machinery, and light industry have created 60% of the province's industrial revenue above designated size, 50% of the province's profits, and 70% of the province's employment. They are not only the basic foundation for Jiangsu's economic development, but also a fertile ground for nurturing new industries, technologies, and driving forces.

Jiangsu Lixing General Steel Ball Co., Ltd., located in Rugao, is mass producing the core component of high-speed rail bearings called "high-speed rail rollers".

In the past, due to traditional heat treatment techniques, the surface hardness of bearing rollers produced in China could not meet the requirement for the rollers to exceed 5000 revolutions per minute, making it difficult for their service life to exceed 3.5 million kilometers.

The R&D team of Lixing has collaborated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences to complete the technical research and development of special alloy steel for heavy-duty bearing rolling elements in ultra high-speed railways. The heat treatment indicators have reached the international leading level, enhancing the autonomy and safety of China's high-speed rail industry chain.

“Traditional industries are not sunset industries. But if the sunset technology is not innovative, it will be eliminated. We aim to develop new trends and technologies in the industry by investing more than 4% of sales revenue each year to update new product research and development equipment, solve the ‘bottlenecks’ and ‘difficulties’ in the industry chain, and transform from ordinary metal processing enterprises to high-tech enterprises,” said Ping Gubo, Deputy Director of the Technical Department of Jiangsu Lixing General Steel Ball Co., Ltd.
