The cities of Wuxi and Huai'an have upgraded livelihood projects to benefit the grassroots communities and continuously meet the growing needs of the people for a better life through practical actions.
A residents' discussion event was recently held in Jianhua Xincun Community, Liangxi District, Wuxi City. This is a measure launched by the Standing Committee of the Wuxi Municipal People's Congress, where representatives of the People's Congress, heads of functional departments, and residents sit together to address issues raised by the masses through face-to-face communication and resolution.
“Today we are going to sit around and discuss by inviting functional departments to solve the practical difficulties of the people,” said Cao Haiyan, Member of Liangxi District People's Congress in Wuxi City.
“The renovation has increased the water pressure in people's homes and also solved the problem of inadequate management of rooftop water tanks,” said Xu Jin, Vice President of Wuxi Urban Construction Development Group.
Since the start of this year, Wuxi has launched the "Innovation Year of the Whole Process of People's Democratic Practice" by holding three consecutive activities, forming a batch of achievements in people's livelihood and receiving praise from the masses.
“We will make every effort to build a demonstration city for practicing full process people's democracy, and effectively promote the full process of people's democracy to shine with vitality in Wuxi,” said Jiang Jian, Director of the Office of the Standing Committee of the Wuxi Municipal People's Congress.
Since the beginning of this year, Huai'an has built six small green and dynamic spaces called "Le Xiang Garden".
Taking into account the actual needs of the residents, Huai'an has further renovated and upgraded activities such as understory spaces, fitness trails, and open lawns, added direct drinking water, sales points, parking spaces, and various types of rooftops so as to have improved the diversified service functions of park green spaces, and steadily increased the scale of urban park green space construction and urban park green spaces.
“We have always organically connected the landscape greening slow-moving system and functional space, scientifically and reasonably arranged "urban furniture", and endowed each pocket park with different theme cultural characteristics, so that the residents can have a green space outside their homes, meeting their needs for leisure, exercise, and play,” said Zhu Mingkai, Director of Urban Landscape Management Center in Huaiyin District, Huai'an City.
