East China's Jiangsu province recorded a total marine production value of over 700 billion yuan in the first three quarters, the latest statistics show.
In the first three quarters, Jiangsu recorded a positive performance in the marine economy by reporting continuous recoveries in leading marine industries such as marine transportation, marine shipbuilding, and marine tourism and steady development of the emerging marine industries, posting strong momentum for high-quality development.
Preliminary calculations show that Jiangsu recorded a total marine production value of approximately 721 billion yuan in the first three quarters, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%, 1.1 percentage points higher than the regional GDP growth rate during the same period, accounting for 7.7% of the province's regional GDP.
In recent years, Jiangsu has implemented a series of actions to enhance the innovation capacity of the marine economy and technology and open up and cooperate in the marine industry, continuously promoting the improvement of marine technology.
Last year, Jiangsu recorded a total marine production value of 904.62 billion yuan, up 7.4% from the previous year, which is 5.5 percentage points faster than the national average. Lianyungang, Yancheng, and Nantong contributed more than half of the province's total.
