Xu Kunlin, governor of east China’s Jiangsu province, met on Tuesday in Nanjing with Kuoch Chamroeun, Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, Cambodia.
Xu Kunlin extended his welcome to Kuoch Chamroeun's visit to Jiangsu, adding that China and Cambodia enjoy profound traditional friendship, and the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries has pointed the way for deepening regional cooperation.
At present, Jiangsu is seizing major opportunities such as the "Belt and Road", the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta to accelerate the construction of a globally influential industrial science and technology innovation center, an internationally competitive advanced manufacturing base, and a two-way development hub with world convergence.
He said that Sihanoukville, as an important window of Cambodia's opening up, is a friendly province of Jiangsu and an important partner of Jiangsu in participating in the "Belt and Road" initiative. Cooperation between the two provinces linked by the Sihanoukville Port Special Economic Zone has achieved initial results and shown broad prospects for development.
Jiangsu is willing to continue to work together to pragmatically promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields, continue to expand economic and trade exchanges, enrich and expand cultural exchanges, and work together to promote the high-quality development of the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, achieve a higher level of mutual benefit and win-win situation, and contribute to building a new era of China Cambodia community with a shared future.
Kuoch Chamroeun expressed his gratitude to Jiangsu for its long-term support for the development of Preah Sihanouk Province, especially the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone. He said that Preah Sihanouk Province is an important link of the "Belt and Road", the construction of the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone has been highly valued by the leaders of the two countries, and has made important contributions to Cambodia's economic development.
He hoped that the two provinces would further cooperate closely in the fields of economy, trade, and humanities, and look forward to more Jiangsu enterprises investing and developing in Sihanouk Province to achieve shared prosperity and benefit the people of both regions.
