Jiangsu Provincial Delegation visits Macao

A party and government delegation from east China’s Jiangsu province visited Macao on Sunday in a bid to promote cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong to a new level. Ho Hau Wah, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met with the delegation. Xin Changxing, Secretary of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, had exchanges with Ho Iat-seng, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and Zheng Xincong, Director of the Central People’s Government Liaison Office in Macao.  

During his meeting with the Jiangsu delegation, Ho Hau Wah pointed out that Jiangsu is a big economic and open province, and Macao has unique advantages in promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Portuguese speaking countries and in the construction of the "the Belt and Road".

Ho Hau Wah said that the visit of the Jiangsu delegation to Macao fully demonstrates strong support for the "one country, two systems" cause in Macao and the high importance it attaches to exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu and Macao. He hoped that both sides would strengthen strategic cooperation, explore cooperation mechanisms that give further play to their respective strengths and potential, deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, especially among young people, continuously improve the well-being of the people in the two regions, and better serve the overall development of the country.

Xin Changxing expressed his gratitude to Vice Chairman Ho Hau Wah for his concern and guidance on the exchange and cooperation between Jiangsu and Macao. He said that Macao is one of the earliest important partners of Jiangsu to carry out cooperation, and has been working hand in hand for many years to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. Jiangsu will continue to expand all-round, multi-faceted, and deep-seated cooperation, and contribute more to promoting the stable and long-term prosperity and stability of the "one country, two systems" cause.

Ho Iat-seng introduced the development of Macao and the construction of the Hengqin Guangdong Macao Deep Cooperation Zone before thanking Jiangsu for its continuous care and support for Macao's development.

He said that the Macao Special Administrative Region government is vigorously promoting the moderate and diversified development of Macao's economy in accordance with the central instructions. While building a world tourism and leisure center and promoting the diversified development of tourism and leisure elements, it is focusing on promoting the development of four major industries that include big health, modern finance, high-tech, exhibition and trade, and cultural and sports.

Noting that Macao and Jiangsu will have broader cooperation space and unprecedented development opportunities, he hoped that the two regions will continue to deepen more comprehensive exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

Xin Changxing said that Jiangsu is located at the intersection of the "the Belt and Road", and Macao is an important window of the Maritime Silk Road, adding that te four major industries in Macao are highly compatible with Jiangsu.

Jiangsu is willing to work with Macao to seize major development opportunities, promote industrial complementary, continue to hold the Jiangsu Macao Portuguese-speaking Countries Business Summit, deepen exchanges and cooperation in economy and trade, science and education, culture and tourism, traditional Chinese medicine and youth, and work together to open up the "the Belt and Road" market to better serve the overall situation of national development.

Zheng Xincong pointed out that the Central People’s Government Liaison Office in Macao will make every effort to strengthen service services, unite and give full play to the efforts of all parties, and help write a new chapter in exchanges and cooperation between macao and Jiangsu.

Xin Changxing expressed his gratitude to the the Central People’s Government Liaison Office in Macao for its concern and support for the development of Jiangsu and the exchange and cooperation between Jiangsu and Macao. He said that Jiangsu will, in accordance with the decisions and arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, promote deeper and more practical exchanges and cooperation between the two regions, so that the development achievements can better benefit the people of both regions, and create a bright future for the integrated development of Jiangsu and Macao.

On the 20th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, the Suzhou Overseas Friendship Association and the University of Macao jointly held the "Suzhou Arts and Crafts Intangible Cultural Heritage Special Exhibition". As a representative exhibit of Jiangsu-style garden architecture, the "Canglang Pavilion" has found wide popularity with teachers and students in Macao.

The Jiangsu Provincial Overseas Friendship Association and the Suzhou Overseas Friendship Association jointly initiated a donation to the University of Macao to build a Jiangsu-style pavilion, based on the famous Song Dynasty pavilion "Canglang Pavilion" in Suzhou. Taking the bell spirit of Jiangsu-style garden architecture and showcasing the elegant and graceful Jiangnan water charm, the pavilion is named "Jiangsu Macao Pavilion".

On Sunday afternoon,the "Jiangsu Macao Pavilion" was unveiled at the Chinese History and Culture Center of the University of macao. Among the officials jointly unveiling the "Macao Pavilion in Jiangsu"were Fang Wei, Vice Governor of Jiangsu, Qiu Yu, Director of the Coordination Department of the Central People’s Government Liaison Office in Macao, Kong Chi Meng, Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and Kai Meng MOK, Vice President of the University of Macao. 

Fang Wei stated in his speech that the completion of the "Jiangsu Macao Pavilion" is not only a witness to the profound friendship between Jiangsu and Macao, but also a new emotional connection and bridge between the two regions. He hoped to take it as an opportunity to deepen cultural exchanges, strengthen mutual learning and mutual learning, and promote more fruitful exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu and Macao. 

The Jiangsu delegation also visited the world cultural heritage, including the Macao Museum and Saint Paul's Ruins, to learn about the protection and activation of local cultural relics, and to feel Macao's diversified culture.
