Xin Changxing, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, and Lee Kachiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, attended the signing ceremony of the Agreement on Deepening Jiangsu-Hong Kong Cooperation. The visit of the Jiangsu delegation aims to promote cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong to a new level. Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met with the Jiangsu delegation.
During his meeting with the Jiangsu delegation, Leung Chun-ying pointed out that Jiangsu and Hong Kong have a long history of exchanges with fruitful results. Jiangsu and Hong Kong have reached a series of cooperation consensus, reflecting the high importance they attach to deepening cooperation between the two sides, which will definitely promote exchanges and cooperation between the two regions to a higher level.
He hoped that Jiangsu and Hong Kong can give full play to their respective strengths to promote closer and more comprehensive exchanges and cooperation, and better serve the overall development of the country.
Xin Changxing thanked Vice Chairman Leung Chun-ying for his concern and guidance on the exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong. He said that Jiangsu and Hong Kong would continue to deepen mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation and jointly contribute more to the construction of the Chinese path to modernization.
On the afternoon of the 13th, Jiangsu and Hong Kong signed an agreement and memorandum to deepen the exchange and cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong. When delivering his speech, Xin Changxing expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Government to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government and people from all walks of life for their long-term support for the development of Jiangsu.
He said that in the overall development of the country, Jiangsu and Hong Kong both hold important positions and shoulder significant responsibilities, with strong complementarity in development and vast cooperation space.
He hoped that the two sides could take the signing of this agreement as a new starting point, actively promote the two sides to enter a new stage in the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road", scientific and technological innovation cooperation, modern industrial cooperation, and the construction of the modern civilization of the Chinese nation, and make new era contributions to the realization of the great ideal of national rejuvenation with the results of all-round, multi field, and in-depth cooperation.
Lee Kachiu said in his speech that Hong Kong and Jiangsu are both important engines of high-quality development for the country, adding that Jiangsu is a major economic province and plays an important role in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and the development strategy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
He said as one of the core cities in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong possesses unique advantages of "one country, two systems" by relying on the motherland, and connecting with the world. By complementing Hong Kong's development goals and advantages in the national 14th Five Year Plan, cooperation between the two regions will surely usher in greater, more, and better opportunities.
Vice Governor Fang Wei and Chan Kwok-ki Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government respectively signed cooperation agreements on behalf of the two regional governments. Jiangsu and Hong Kong have reached consensus in 12 fields with cooperation memorandums signed in education, youth, innovation, investment, and economic and trade counterparts.
When delivering a keynote speech at the 2023 Jiangsu Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference, Xin Changxing hoped that Jiangsu and Hong Kong will work together to create a better future for the integrated development of Jiangsu and Hong Kong.
Both sides signed 37 cooperation projects in industrial cooperation, trade and investment, and cultural technology.
At the 11th meeting of the Jiangsu Hong Kong Joint Conference on Cooperation, Xin Changxing, Fang Wei, and Margaret Fong, President of the Hong Kong Trade and Development Bureau, jointly witnessed the signing of the meeting minutes and the signing of 4 cooperation projects and 2 action plans.
At the Jiangsu-Hong Kong Innovation Symposium attended by presidents, vice presidents and professors of Hong Kong-based universities, Xin Changxing said that Jiangsu is striving to build an industrial technology innovation center with global influence and Hong Kong has abundant scientific and technological innovation resources, taking the lead not only in basic research and applied research, but also in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and the cultivation of innovative and entrepreneurial talents. He hoped that the advantages of the two regions can be perfectly matched to promote comprehensive technological innovation cooperation, and jointly serve the country's high-level technological self-reliance and self-improvement.
Xin Changxing visited the Hong Kong Science Park, the largest technology research and development and enterprise incubation base in Hong Kong, witnessed the signing of cooperation memorandums between the Hong Kong Institute of Applied Science and Technology, the Suzhou Municipal Government, Southeast University, and the Provincial Industrial Technology Research Institute, and unveiled the Yangtze River Delta Achievement Transformation Center of the Hong Kong Institute of Applied Science and Technology.
When attending the 13th Jiangsu Hong Kong Macao Youth Development Forum, Xin Changxing said that Jiangsu will provide a larger stage and create better conditions for youth exchange and cooperation among the three regions.
