The 2023 International Energy Change Forum, co-sponsored by the National Energy Administration, Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, and the International Renewable Energy Agency, opened in Suzhou on Wednesday.
Xu Kunlin, Governor of Jiangsu, Zhang Jianhua, Director of the National Energy Administration and Francesco La Camera, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, delivered a video speech.
Xu Kunlin said that energy is the foundation and driving force of economic and social development, and is crucial for national prosperity and development, improvement of people's lives, and long-term social stability.
As a major energy consuming powerhouse, Jiangsu has deeply implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping's important statement on the new energy security strategy in recent years, fully implemented the global development initiative, planned and built a modern energy system with the premise of ensuring security, promoted the clean and efficient use of traditional energy and the orderly development and utilization of new energy, promoted the optimization of energy structure and the improvement of energy efficiency level, and effectively ensured economic and social development and people's energy needs.
Noting that this forum is of great significance and far-reaching impact in building a high-quality dialogue platform for smooth communication and exchange of information among various sectors of the industry, the governor hoped that the participants at the conference can fully express their insightful opinions, deepen economic and trade cooperation, and contribute more wisdom and strength to the energy transformation cause in Jiangsu, the country, and even the world.

Zhang Jianhua said that the National Energy Administration will thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and requirements, coordinate development and security, development and emission reduction, and continue to promote the energy revolution.
Addressing challenges such as climate change and energy crisis requires global consensus, further strengthening solidarity and cooperation, promoting cooperation in clean and efficient energy utilization, clean and low-carbon energy development, energy technology innovation, and global energy governance so as to jointly promote the global energy transformation process with greater determination and effort.

During the forum, a themed exhibition titled "10th Anniversary of China's Energy Revolution" was held, and the International Energy Change Alliance was established. A series of achievements were released, including the "Energy Revolution, China in Action" themed video, the "Global Clean Energy Partnership Initiative", and the "Blue Book of the Energy Change Index" report.
At the opening ceremony, Cao Lubao, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee, delivered a speech.
Ma Xin, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor, was present.
