After 8 hours of continuous operation, the world's largest tonnage bridge deck crane passed a load test on Sunday and lifted over 1500 tons of steel truss beams to 60 meters above the river surface, completing the symmetrical suspension assembly of the first pair of steel truss beams on the north bank of the Changzhou-Taixing Yangtze River Bridge, paving the way for the cantilever installation of the bridge steel truss beams.
“The placement of this beam signifies that our steel truss beam has fully entered the assembly stage. There are a total of 18 beam sections waiting to be assembled on the shore side and 20 beam sections waiting to be assembled on the river side. On average, we conduct symmetrical suspension assembly every 10 to 15 days. We expect the bridge to be completed in May next year”, Liang Liang, Deputy Chief Engineer of the CT-A3 Project of the Changzhou Taixing Yangtze River Bridge, said.
After one and a half hours of continuous construction, the first steel beam of over 100 tons for the North Approach Bridge of Longtan Yangtze River Bridge has been completed and erected. The first steel beam erected for the north approach of the Longtan Yangtze River Bridge is approximately 53.5 meters long and weighs approximately 105 tons.
In order to safely and smoothly erect this mammoth weighing over a hundred tons from the transportation dock to the top of the bridge pier, the project department used two 350-ton crawler cranes.
“Transporting the steel beams from the dock to the bridge site requires multiple right angles turns. We have cleared the obstacles on site and have three drivers of the beam transport trucks on site to guide the transportation of the steel beams. The steel beams will be erected in place within approximately 1 to 2 hours”, Han Min, Manager of the North Anchorage North Approach Bridge Project of Longtan Yangtze River Bridge, said.
The successful installation of the first steel beam marked the beginning of the installation of the steel beam for the north approach of the Longtan Yangtze River Bridge, laying the foundation for the bridge's opening to traffic in 2024.
