Construction updates on rail transit lines

Suzhou has been striving to push forward the construction of rail transit lines. The following is a rundown of the progress of the lines.

Line 3 and Line 11

The Suzhou Rail Transit Group has added information about Line 11 on the signs above the platform doors and light boxes in stations of Line 3, marking the start of an upgrade of the guiding information of Line 3.

Once completed, Line 11 and Line 3 will be linked and a seamless transfer to Shanghai Metro 11 will be available, achieving convenient connections between the main urban area of Suzhou, Kunshan, and Shanghai. Line 3 will be completely connected to Line 11 and put into use by the end of this year.

Line 8

Line 3 will also be linked with Line 8.

According to the plan for Line 8, construction on the tunnels, tracks, and power grids will be completed by the end of this year. Line 8 will go into operation next year.

Line 6

Seamless tracks are laid in a 12.424-kilometer section for Line 6, connecting six stations, namely Jinjiayan Station, Xiebu Station, Xinchanglu Station, Jinshanglu Station, Sangtiandao Station, and Xinqinglu Station.

Work on the construction of tunnels, tracks, and power grids of Line 6 main line will be finished this year.

Line 10

A shield work shaft at the site of Changshu Station is under construction for Line 10. Construction on the site will be finished in December 2026.

It is expected that nine lines of Suzhou Rail Transit will operate together in 2024. In addition, the construction of the extensions to Lines 2, 4, and 7 is also underway and will be completed around 2026.
