East China’s Jiangsu province has fully mobilized various forces to donate and quickly support disaster relief in disaster-stricken areas in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. JSBC has the story.
At 9 pm on Monday, the National Flood Control Administration and the State Grain and Material Reserve Bureau urgently notified Jiangsu to quickly mobilize central flood control materials to support Tianjin's flood control and disaster relief.
After receiving the notification, the Provincial Water Conservancy and Flood Control Material Reserve Center immediately launched a transportation plan and organized party members to carry out overnight material loading operations.
At 10 am, Jiangsu sent out 15 vehicles of flood prevention and relief supplies, and it is expected that all 49 vehicles will be shipped Tuesday morning.
“We are currently less than 200 kilometers away from Tianjin. The central emergency rescue and disaster relief supplies we transport mainly include 2.78 million woven bags, 2 million square meters of laminated woven fabric, 510000 square meters of filament geotextile, and 100 sets of portable strong light sets. We deliver materials to the people in the disaster area in a timely, efficient and safe manner, which is beneficial for them to quickly get engaged in flood control and disaster relief as well as home restoration”, Wei Jianbin, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Water Resources and Flood Control Material Reserve Center, said.
Materials donated by Jiangsu-based enterprises are being transported to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei disaster areas. The full load of sleeping bags and instant noodles sent from Nantong have arrived at the disaster areas in Hebei. 3-million-yuan worth of various disinfection supplies donated by Zhenjiang will be distributed to the front line of disaster relief through the China Charity Federation. More than 30 thousand pieces of clothing donated by two textile enterprises in Changzhou are being sent to Zhuozhou city of Hebei.
“We were extremely anxious, and under the leadership and call of the Changzhou Charity Federation, we quickly made over 10000 pieces of knitted clothing overnight and sent them to Zhuozhou of Hebei”, Shao Huan, a clerk from a business in Changzhou, said.
A large number of social organizations and citizens in Jiangsu have joined in the donation to help the people in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei disaster areas to overcome difficulties as soon as possible.
“There are 200 boxes of instant noodles, nearly 300 boxes of water, 100 shovel, 4 backpack type automatic spray and some disinfectant. In the future, we will try our best to supplement them according to the demand there”, Gao Fang, President of Suqian Fangcao Volunteer Association, said.
“It is about 1000 kilometers from Jiangyan to Fangshan, and it takes 14 hours to drive. We have organized three drivers to do our best to deliver this batch of materials to the disaster areas as soon as possible”, Gong Yaozu, a volunteer from Taizhou, said.
“I donate the New Year's gift money to them to help them overcome difficulties as soon as possible”, Mei Zhiya, a student of Jiangyin Experimental Primary School in Wuxi, said.
