East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up its efforts in the past years for the paired-up poverty alleviation assistance with northwest China’s Qinghai province. JSBC has the story.

In the Qinghai Agriculture, Forestry and Animal Husbandry Commodity Trading Center located in Haidong City, Qinghai Province, Yak meat, black wolfberry, and hundred flower honey and many other agricultural and sideline products show the characteristics of various cities and prefectures in Qinghai.

The daily browsing volume of the mini program mall has increased by 50% to around 500 thousand. At the same time, the sales of specialty agricultural products such as Qinghai yogurt and yak jerky have continued to rise.

“We also need to continuously explore high-quality agricultural and sideline products. Taking advantage of the cooperation between Wuxi and Haidong, we have set up a dedicated live broadcast room at the Qinghai Agriculture, Forestry and Animal Husbandry Commodity Trading Center to continuously carry out live streaming activities. In the next step, we will better help sell high-quality agricultural and sideline products to various parts of the country”, Zhao Qing, General Manager of Wuxi Huaze Weifu Technology Development Co., Ltd., said.

The Qinghai Agriculture, Forestry, and Animal Husbandry Commodity Trading Center, which has reported booming transaction recently, is the only national e-commerce demonstration enterprise in Qinghai Province, and it is also the result of the paired-up poverty alleviation assistance between Jiangsu and Qinghai.

The trading center recorded a sales revenue of 334 million yuan from January to July this year, a year-on-year increase of 24%. The Jiangsu market contributed 164 million yuan, ranking first in various provinces for three consecutive years.

Since 2017, Wuxi has provided paired-up poverty alleviation support to Haidong Prefecture by allocated nearly 1.4 billion yuan of poverty alleviation funds, organizing and implementing 524 poverty alleviation projects and benefited 600 thousand Haidong people.

At the People's Hospital of Guide County, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, 15-year-old Banma Yezhong, together with his father, helped his 88-year-old grandmother to seek re-examination by Chen Yaohua, a doctor from Nantong city of Jiangsu province.

The old lady has been blind for over a year due to cataracts, and it was Dr. Chen Yaohua who helped her regain eyesight. She is also the 1575th eye cured by Dr. Chen Yaohua in the eight years since he started working in Qinghai as part of the paired-up poverty alleviation support between Jiangsu and Qinghai.

“Fortunately, the doctor from Nantong has cured his eyes. Thank you. I am very happy and excited to the extent as to be speechless”, Dan Zhengxian, Father of Bama Yezhong, said.

The building of Guide County People's Hospital is a project funded by Jiangsu with 40 million yuan. On June 14th, with the careful preparation of the paired-up support medical team from Nantong, the hospital unveiled its oncology department and cancer prevention and treatment center, filling the gap in local cancer prevention and treatment.

“So far, we have implemented 120-million-yuan projects. In the next two years, we will implement an additional 170 million yuan of funds, focusing on promoting local development in areas such as livelihood construction, industrial development, medical and health security”, Cao Cheng, Leader of paired-up support team from Nantong, Deputy Secretary and Deputy County Chief of Guide County, Qinghai, said.

Changzhou city of Jiangsu province has sent a total of 48 officials and talents in 5 batches to work in Gonghe County of Qinghai province since it started to carry out paired-up support with Qinghai in August 2010.

In 2021, all districts of Changzhou will establish a partnership with Maqên County, Banma County and Gonghe County of Golog Prefecture in Qinghai Province. At present, Changzhou has implemented 66 projects to assist Qinghai, with a total allocation of 658 million yuan, with over 80% being used to ensure and improve people's livelihoods.
