East China’s Jiangsu province has made unremitting efforts to promote livelihood projects to improve people’s well-being. Let’s take a close look.

Mr. Fu, a citizen of Xuzhou, was bedridden two years ago because of his disability. His wife recently consulted with the community on the application of a disability permit. The community staff told her that she only needs to log into the "Xuzhou Disability Assessment Management System" to complete the application procedures on her mobile phone.

“After logging in, I found that the application process was very simple and convenient. It took less than ten minutes from input to submission,” said Zhao Linli, Mr. Fu's wife.

Before the new system is put into operation, people who apply for a disability certificate need to go to the registered residence location to fill in the application, then go to the designated hospital for evaluation before waiting for the notice to get the certificate. They need to run at least three times.

The online operation of the disability assessment management system has realized online application, assessment appointment, and Paperless office assessment. Applicants only need to go to the hospital once for disability assessment, and the rest of the processes can be completed online, greatly simplifying the formalities for applying disability certification.

“In the next step, we will further increase the management of disability ID cards, optimize and integrate evaluation and supervision data management and departmental sharing, and do our best to provide more high-quality services for the people with disabilities,” Sun Hongqiao, Director of the Organization and Personnel Department of Xuzhou Disabled Persons' Federation, said.

Jiangsu is fully committed to improving and ensuring people's livelihoods in the course of development so as to have enhanced the happiness index of the people. In this summer vacation, Suqian conducted spinal health management public welfare exercise rehabilitation training for students aged 10 to 16 with scoliosis.

“We divide it into three stages. In the first stage, we will do some basic functional training for the body, including neck and chest traction, spinal traction, and hip traction. In the second stage, we will teach children specific corrective actions. In the third stage, we will give children some gymnastics reinforcement,” said Chen Zhanyi, Chief Therapist of Suqian Jialudu Sports Rehabilitation Center.

Suqian has listed adolescent spine health management as a local practical project for two consecutive years. After the summer training camp, the local medical department will continue to carry out a series of activities such as spinal health intervention on campus and spinal health science popularization.

“We have completed the screening task for 20000 students in 22 schools and developed a future work plan for free spinal intervention,” said Zhou Kai, Deputy Director of Suqian Physical Testing Center.
