In 2023, the National Free Medical Student Enrollment Plan will enroll 6,150 medical students in the rural areas in the central and western regions, the Ministry of Education said in a notice Wednesday.
In 2023, the central government will support higher medical colleges to cultivate targeted and free five-year undergraduate medical students for township health centers in the central and western regions.
6150 medical students will receive training in clinical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, Mongolian medicine, and Uyghur medicine.
The National Free Medical Student Enrollment Plan is supported by the central government.
Candidates who register for the free medical directional enrollment plan must attend the national college entrance examination by applying for one university with a specific cut-off scores determined for admission.
These undergraduate medical students must sign targeted training and employment agreements with the county health and human resources and social security administrative departments and universities.
