He is the chief music designer for the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, and has served as the music creator and director of CCTV Spring Festival Gala for more than 20 consecutive years. As a native of Nanjing, he has mentioned countless times that it is the soil in his hometown that has nourished him and given him energy.

On May 18th, at the concert hall of Nanjing Little Red Flower Art Center, Bian Liunian collaborated with local children performed a beautiful movement called "String Dance Flying Sound" by integrating the strings of erhu and violin.

"I joined the Little Red Flower Art Troupe at the age of 7. At first, I learned to play the cello, yueqin, erhu, percussion, singing, and dancing. Little Red Flower was the place where my life started. I feel very proud that today my studio is established here at the Little Red Flower Art Troupe. I also hope to do more for Little Red Flower in the future," said Bian.

Under the influence of music, Bian Liunian has grown from a little flower in the past to a big tree that has borne numerous fruits. Based on ethnic music, he leads popular music with proficiency in both Chinese and Western instruments. He has been researching and practicing how to make ethnic music develop from traditional to modern, electroacoustic, and digital, and how to communicate with the world through music language.

With poetic and picturesque erhu performance and magnificent composition, he is the mentor of many singers and musicians. His works are even more popular throughout the country.

"It has been almost 40 years since I created my first work, and I have published nearly 6000 works. I have been the main creator, composer, and music director of CCTV's Spring Festival Gala for 23 consecutive years. We are fortunate to have caught up with this good era. Without a good era, without a good economic development, there would be no creative inspiration. We are therefore the biggest beneficiaries and witnesses of the country's decades of development," said Bian.

No matter where he goes or how his career develops, Bian Liunian has always been proud to be a native of Nanjing.

He often compares himself to the "little bee of Nanjing". The soil of his hometown has nourished him, and he also wanted to fly to various parts of the world to bring back beautiful and excellent artistic pollen, making the colorful flowers of art in his hometown bloom more brightly.

"Bees are very diligent and transmit beauty day and night. I feel capable of playing this role,  because I have indeed traveled around the world, not only conveying our Chinese culture, but also bringing back the excellent culture of the world. Therefore, every year, I tirelessly work day and night with this responsibility and mission to use music to tell the beauty of China and the story of beautiful Jiangsu to the world," said Bian.
