Dongtai City in east China’s Jiangsu Province has provided poverty alleviation assistance to Yaozhou District, Tongchuan City, in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province by working together in areas such as sustainable development of characteristic agriculture, strengthening investment attraction, and accelerating the creation of a good business environment so as to have created an upgraded version of New Yaozhou for poverty alleviation and prosperity.
“Our mushrooms are of good quality. How are our overall sales lately?” Asked Zhang Weidong, Deputy Director of the Development and Reform Bureau of Yaozhou District, Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province.
“In the first year, I earned over 30 thousand yuan, and last year I earned over 70 thousand yuan,” said Liu Aili, mushroom Grower.
Zhang Weidong arrived in Yaozhou to support poverty alleviation over two years ago. How to promote the 10 million sticks of mushrooms in 1200 greenhouses has become his top priority.
“With ecological mountains, water, and air, Miaowan is a magical place that have nurtured high-quality mushroom products. It is a pity that these products were not industrialized due to financial issues,” said Zhang.
With the help of a group of paired-up assistance officials such as Zhang Weidong, Dongtai City has provided a total of 13.35 million yuan in poverty alleviation funds to Miaowan Town over the past five years by building a technical core area and an industrial park and helping more than 2000 households increase their income.
In 2023, Miaowan Town was selected as the 12th batch of national "One Village, One Product" demonstration towns by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, becoming a demonstration model for consolidating poverty alleviation achievements and achieving industrial revitalization in Yaozhou District.
