The second meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th Provincial People's Congress closed Thursday afternoon in Nanjing. Xin Changxing, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.
Among the leaders attending the meeting were Vice Directors of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress Fan Jinlong, Wei Guoqiang, Chen Xingying, Zhou Guangzhi, Zhang Baojuan, and Secretary General Chen Jiangang.
Vice Governor Li Yaoguang, Xia Daohu, President of the Provincial Court, Shi Shitai, Procurator General of the Provincial Procuratorate, and head of the Provincial Supervision Commission attended the meeting as nonvoting delegates.
The meeting approved the revised "Regulations on Safe Production in Jiangsu Province" and the decision on modifying the "Regulations on the Management of Reservoirs in Jiangsu Province" were voted through, and six regulations submitted for approval by prefecture-level cities such as Wuxi.
The meeting approved the appointment and removal of officials. Xin Changxing issued a letter of appointment to the appointees, and a constitutional oath ceremony was held at the meeting.
Xin Changxing required the appointees to keep their vows in mind, be loyal to the Constitution, the motherland, and the people, perform their duties in strict accordance with legal authorities and procedures, and make new contributions to promoting high-quality development and the modernization of new Jiangsu.
Xin Changxing requested local governments to implement the regulations production safety and reservoir management adopted at this meeting, strengthen the responsibilities of all parties, accelerate the modernization of the provincial safety production governance system and governance capacity, effectively maintain the ecological environment of the reservoir, standardize the development and utilization of the reservoir, and promote high-quality economic and social development through the effective supply of water resources.
The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee emphasized that this year is the first year to fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, making it significant to strengthen the work of the provincial people's congress.
He requested the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress and its organs to carefully organize and carry out thematic education on learning and implementing the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, vigorously promote investigation and research, follow the General Secretary's important instructions and the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee, find problems and select topics from the social conditions and public opinions submitted by the grassroots people, adhere to the principle of conducting research while conducting investigations, and strive to improve the work of the People's Congress.
The chief legislator of the province asked local people's congresses to highlight political training, strengthen learning, promote deputies to constantly uphold their political stance, enhance their awareness of the rule of law, and improve their ability to perform their duties, so as to better play the role of the deputies and make new performances in the new practice of comprehensively promoting Chinese path to modernization in Jiangsu.
