A series of forums themed on digital technology and life aesthetics will also be held for designers from Wuxi, Macao, and cities in other countries.

Yang Jianping, director of WEDD's administrative committee, said at the launch ceremony that WEDD needs a creative design industry to help it pursue industrial development and urban renewal.

He noted that the design week is expected to promote the deep integration of design and industries and facilitate the establishment of a long-term exchange mechanism between Wuxi and Macao in talent and industry.

The Macao Special Administrative Region will focus on the development of the tourism and leisure industry this year, said Shih Chialun, chairman of the Guangdong and Macao Federation of Industry and Commerce.

Shih added that to develop the industry, Macao SAR requires close cooperation with other cities.

He pointed out that Wuxi boasts a sound foundation for the cultural and tourism industries and that the city can make full use of Macao's strength in cultural and creative industries to seek cooperation with cities in other countries.

As the hub of advanced manufacturing industry in China, Wuxi is also a renowned city of culture with a 3,000-year history. Over the past few years, the city has been seeking cooperation with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in various fields, including the cultural and creative industries.
