The Jiangsu delegation to the first session of the 14th National People's Congress held a plenary meeting on Monday to study the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping when he attended the deliberation of the Jiangsu delegation. Xin Changxing, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress and head of the delegation, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.

Xi, who is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, was elected by unanimous vote as a deputy to the NPC at the first session of the 14th Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress in January.
The president, who represents Jiangsu province as a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress, told his fellow deputies from the province during a deliberation on Sunday that the nation must accelerate steps to attain a high level of self-reliance in science and technology, a requirement for promoting high-quality growth.
The NPC deputies from Jiangsu unanimously agreed that at the first National People's Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping’s participation at the Jiangsu delegation for the deliberation of government work report and delivery of an important speech was the most exciting moment for the delegation and a great event in the history of Jiangsu's development.
The NPC deputies from Jiangsu agreed that we must closely combine the study and implementation of the important speech of the General Secretary with the study and implementation of the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress as an important political task at present and in the future. We should repeatedly study and understand, systematically study and deploy, and comprehensively promote the implementation, and strive to deliver a new answer sheet that will reassure the General Secretary and the Party Central Committee and satisfy the people of the province.
Xin Changxing pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech, with profound thoughts, broad vision, lofty vision, is a face-to-face guidance for us to comprehensively implement the spirit of the Twentieth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and a scientific guidance for us to promote the new practice of Chinese path to modernization and promote the province’s high-quality development.
