Starting this Thursday, all lanes of the toll station in the southeast section of Nanjing ringroad expressway have realized online payment in digital RMB, marking the successful application of the digital RMB payment in Nanjing’s expressways and also the first application of the digital RMB expressway toll in the province.
Digital RMB is the legal tender in digital form issued by the People's Bank of China. At present, it has been widely used in many cities and scenes.
At 9 toll stations, including Tianhoucun, Liucun, Xishanqiao and Guli, in the southeast section of the ringroad expressway, drivers can use digital RMB to pay the toll when passing all lanes.
"After opening the digital RMB wallet, slide up to open the payment, scan the code for our toll collector, and it will pay the required toll from your wallet, and then it will display a bill." Chen Qing, Deputy Director of Information Center of Nanjing Road Development Group said.
When using digital RMB for payment, you can also pay with the collection device when your mobile phone is not connected to the Internet. The use of digital RMB does not incur any handling charges.
"In the next step, we will install electronic currency payment at all toll stations and promote it in conjunction with the financial industry." Chen Qing, Deputy Director of Information Center of Nanjing Road Development Group said.
According to the recently-issued Work Plan for the Digital RMB Pilot Project in Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu will steadily and orderly carry out the digital RMB pilot project, promote the incremental expansion of the application of digital RMB, the continuous innovation of scenarios, and the continuous improvement of ecology, further meet the diverse payment needs of the masses, and promote the high-quality development of the economy and society.
